Despite the closure of schools, teaching and learning in Miami-Dade County Public Schools continues uninterrupted thanks to the support of our parents, community and full M-DCPS staff. Below is information provided to assist you and your child conduct distance learning. The information below may be updated throughout time, therefore please check back regularly to view any updated material.
The District’s efforts with this guidance document are to address, as best we can, the variability in access and inherent biases in grading. This is the best possible way to protect our students from harm and to honor their hard work under extremely difficult circumstances while not penalizing anyone for factors outside their control.
The following principles guided the development of the document and reflect our commitment to advancing equity:
The District will be transitioning from centralized distribution to direct distribution from school sites beginning Monday, April 6, 2020. School site administrators are identifying students in need and scheduling appointments with parents. Parents may also request a device by either emailing principal directly (directions below) or by calling 305-995-3000. Visit the School Directory, select school and click on Principal name to send an email. In the subject section of email place “Student Name/ID” and write "Device Appointment Request”
Starting April 6, 2020, students will log into the student portal to be recorded as present in school. Students will receive a confirmation alert when they log in. If a student fails to log into the portal, his or her parents will receive an automated phone call the next day by noon, indicating the student did not log into the portal the day before and was marked absent.
Understanding that our young learners in grades Pre-K through 2 and students with disabilities may need assistance in signing-on for the purposes of attendance, the district will be deploying Clever badges for students in grades K-2 and special needs students. Attendance for these students will be captured via the Clever badge log in screen or through the traditional signing-on to the portal. Students are encouraged to log in during their regular scheduled school hours.
